Volunteer Japanese Coaches Help With Your Japanese

Free Japanese Learning Opportunities - For Hiragana Times Subscribers

Hiragana Times has launched a new project called JACS (Japanese Assisting Coach System) for those learning Japanese through Hiragana Times. JACS will provide you with opportunities to learn Japanese and learn about Japan at no cost with the help of volunteer Japanese coaches.

Why have we started JACS?

Hiragana Times, an English-Japanese monthly magazine, has been published since 1986 for non-Japanese who want to learn about Japan and learn Japanese. It is read by people in more than 100 nations including many Japanese who are learning English and wish to communicate with non-Japanese.

Hiragana Times articles are used every year in some Japanese university English exams, and used as a Japanese text in overseas universities. All the translated sentences from every issue are converted into Braille and also included in the well-known online dictionary “eijiro.” At the NTT All Japan Town Magazine Festival, Hiragana Times has twice been awarded the Grand Prize.

We believe that Hiragana Times is the only magazine in the world that details real life in Japan while teaching Japanese through English. Hiragana Times is now taking a step toward being more than a magazine, but also a communication tool for non-Japanese with an interest in Japan and Japanese who want to help them learn Japanese. JACS is designed to realize this aim.
