I am working in a company in Hiroshima on an “engineer” visa. My sister is attending a school in Tokyo. As she is not well, I would like to live with her and take care of her. At present, I am looking for a job in Tokyo. Please advise me about things I need to be aware of regarding changing job.

I think you are very concerned about conditions of your work such as payment etc., but here I will explain the important points about changing jobs with regard to your visa.
(1) Please obtain a certificate of your resignation and a tax deduction certificate when you leave your company. These are necessary for the visa procedure.
(2) In case the work that you will be engaged in at your next job is different from the work you are currently doing, please follow the procedure to apply for a change to your status of residence before you leave the company. You will be able to start working after the change is accepted. It would be best for you to sign an employment contract with your new employer after gaining their consent on this issue.
(3) If the work you will undertake at your new employer is the same as the work you currently do, needless to say, you will have to apply for permission to extend your term of residence before it expires. Furthermore, if you still have some time left on your visa after you move to a new company, it would be advisable for you to apply for a certificate of work eligibility. Provided you can obtain this permit, you will be able to work for a new company with peace of mind, and it will also make it easier for you to extend your period of eligibility.
