On April 29, 2006, the requirements for gaining
a residential visa were changed. Foreigners with Japanese
blood and their families had to obtain residential
visas with the added requirement that the behavior
of these people must be "good." This will
require a certificate regarding the applicant's criminal
record to be issued by an authorized organization
in their home country. If you have any experience
of penal servitude or imprisonment, been fined or
received any punishment equivalent to those mentioned
above, it will not be recognized that you have shown
good behavior.
Secondly, in order to invite a person from overseas,
you will have to apply for the Certificate of Eligibility.
To extend a visa or to change a temporary visa to
a residential visa, you will also be required to apply
for the above-mentioned certificate. To do so, you
will need the following documents.
1) Application for Certificate of Eligibility (including
two facial photos)
2) Written document to certify the applicant's identity
including a copy of their family register, marriage
certificate, birth certificate and any related death
certificate.
3) If the applicant is to pay the fees, the documents
including a certificate of employment, certificate
of tax payment, certificate of tax deductions, certificate
of guarantee of future employment, etc., are required.
4) Certificate from the Philippine National Police
and a Certificate from the Philippine National Bureau
of Investigation.
