In case you marry in Japan:
1. She gets her family register from Taiwan and asks
the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office
in Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka and Fukuoka) to issue
her a certificate ensuring that marriage requirements
are met.
2. Submit a notification of your marriage to your
local Government office.
3. After completing the marriage procedure in Japan,
you proceed with the Taiwan side of arrangement. You
submit a notification of your marriage to the Taipei
Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan.
You are required to present your family register in
which your marital status is described in your reference
box, her Taiwanese family register and her passport.
When the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative
Office in Japan accepts them, a notification of your
marriage is sent to the office in Taiwan. At this
stage, your marriage will have been recognized in
both countries
In case you marry in Taiwan:
1. You get your family register and have it approved
at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative
Office in Japan.
2. You ask for a certificate ensuring that marriage
requirements are met at a branch of Interchange Association,
Japan in Taipei or Kaohsiung. Attaching this certificate,
you apply for a marriage notary at your local government
law office in Taiwan. After you have it approved,
submit the notification of your marriage to your local
government office in Taiwan and you will receive your
family registration updated to reflect your marriage.
3. Then, you submit the notification of your marriage
to your local Government office in Japan. Your marriage
record will be registered in your family register
in Japan. Your marriage between both countries will
then become effective.
