Regarding the Application for Permission to Extend the Term of Residence of a Cook

Question
I run a small, foreign food restaurant. Please advise me on the necessary documents needed for our employee, whose term of residence is soon expiring.

Answer
The necessary documents for the application for permission to extend term of residence/visa extension differ depending on the company where the employee works, however, the followings documents are generally required.

1. A completed application form for permission to extend term of residence/visa extension (available at Immigration offices)

2. A passport and an alien registration card (for identification purposes)

3. A record of withholding slips of all the employee’s previous year’s salary

4. A residential tax receipt or tax-exemption document (both available at local town offices)

Additional documents could be required depending on whether or not the application is made following a change in job status. In case the visa extension application follows a change in an employee’s job status, an additional written explanation may also be necessary. Therefore, it pays to pay special attention to this particular detail.
