| Oedo-Onsen
Monogatari
Hot springs (onsen) are the most popular resorts
among Japanese. There are many famous onsen resorts
in the provinces such as Kusatsu, Hakone and Yufuin.
There are also some wonderful onsen in Tokyo, and
Oedo-Onsen Monogatari is unique among them.
After paying the admission fee, you will receive a
yukata or Japanese bathrobe with a ukiyoe print or
a picture print from the Edo period. When you step
inside the hall wearing it, you will feel yourself
slipping back in time to the Edo period (1603~1867),
where a row of period houses are built. There you
will find wondrous exoticism seeing people, including
some foreigners, walking around wearing yukata. You
can also enjoy Japanese food and souvenir shopping
there.
There are various baths to be enjoyed including open
air baths, a cypress bath and a laying bath. In the
court you will see couples resting and families on
the benches taking in the sea breeze. Oedo- Onsen
is also furnished with a lounge where you can take
a nap, and you can relax there the whole day. Oedo-Onsen
is located in Tokyofs new sightseeing spot Odaiba,
on the beach side of Tokyo bay enabling you to enjoy
both spots at the same time.
