| You
can Experience the Wonderful Okinawa Sea
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
The ocean around Okinawa is well known worldwide
for its beauty. In this aquarium in Okinawa, the conditions
for the resident sea life are kept as close as possible
to those in the ocean. In one of the world's biggest
tanks - called "Kuroshio" - thousands of
fish including an approximately 7.5-meter-long whale
shark can be seen swimming. Based on the theme "Encounter
the Okinawa Sea," the museum's staff are breeding
and studying many of the numerous creatures living
in the Okinawa sea. This is the only place where you
can see manta rays, the largest in their species,
being bred. At the nearby facility, you also can enjoy
the spectacle of seeing dolphins jumping.
