Are the Lives of Human Beings Worth Less than Insects'?

I was most shocked to recently hear the news about the murder of an 6th grade pupil in Nagasaki. A 6th grade elementary school girl was killed by a pupil in the same class. Japanese society seems to be deteriorating and the criminals are getting younger. Who's responsibility is this? I believe 11 year old children are pure. Why did she do such a cruel thing? What kind of education did she receive? What kind of people are her parents?

Now, many video games involve fighting. To make things worse, the main characters in these games are often beaten and receive serious injuries, but they soon get back on their feet. This greatly influences children as they have come to think that fighting and killing are ordinary occurrences and that they can get back up after being killed. Furthermore, children come to think that anything, even trivial matters, can be solved by violence.

This shocking news made many people, especially those in the Ministry of Education & Science, realize the necessity of enhancing moral consciousness and reviewing the past. I think the present education system is too easy. On the other hand, young parents are struggling to educate their children. I often think that it's not children that need education but parents. Communication between parents & children should not be neglected. It is very important.

Japanese are hesitant to say "I love you," but actually it is the most effective way to embrace children when their emotions are unstable. This show of love is more important than any expensive gifts. Parents' affection is priceless.

How much quality communication did the parents of the 11-year-old killer have with their daughter when they raised her? This girl secretly planned to kill her victim two weeks before the incident. It was reported that the killer made her victim sit on a chair and slashed her from behind with a knife.

What was she thinking when she killed another human being? Is the life of her friend, even one who wrote something bad about the killer, worth less than an insects'? Why wasn't she more tolerant? This tragedy would not have happened if the killer had had been able to communicate her feelings to her intended victim, or if she had expressed her feelings to her teacher or parents and received appropriate advice.

This news made many people realize how important communication is. Parents must recognize that their own children are more important than pachinko, movies and pubs. When communication is neglected, it is not only the parents that are affected but others too.
