When you look at your face in the mirror after taking off your thick make-up...

The current national pension issue in Japan has disclosed the fact that almost everyone is cunning and indulgent, including politicians and journalists. On this occasion, the Hiragana Times CIA asked professionals in each field about their true view of their occupation.

A Politician
The reason I chose this party is that I believed I would be chosen in the election if I could become a nominee. It doesn't matter which party I belong to. To be frank, I work for those who offer me contributions and help gather votes.

A Bureaucrat
You say we receive a retirement allowance whenever we receive "amakudari" at related organizations? Of course this should be granted. You must know we decide the direction of the country and are guiding the innocent citizens of Japan. Politicians are arrogant, but they are our puppets.

A Journalist
Since our employment status is a contract, we are afraid that our work could be terminated. Do I tone down a story in some cases? Sure, especially when I receive hush money.

A Police Officer
I know our investigation budget is being abused and has now become an issue. Lots of higher ranked officers have built houses with the money they have received. If this is done by a private company, people will be arrested for embezzlement. But police chiefs are safe, since they will be investigated by fellow policemen.

A Commentator
You know a famous economist recently tried to look up a high school girl's skirt with a mirror and caused a big fuss in the media. Intellectuals are frustrated dirty people in reality.

A Doctor
Japanese men and women enjoy the longest lifespan in the world. Do you know why? It is because Japanese doctors try very hard to prolong the deaths of patients who are effectively dead. Frankly speaking, these are the most profitable patients.

A Member of the Self Defense Agency
Imagine! We can learn about the latest technology while receiving a salary. There are very few privileged educational institutes like this. If I have to fight, I will of course quit this job.

A Lawyer
No lawyers work for justice or fairness. Our job is to create justice and justify the conduct of those who help us pay back the loans on our holiday homes. Poor men consequently always become losers.

An Interpreter
There are lots of occasions where I don't understand what is being said, but nobody notices as long as I say something. Bluffing is important for interpreting. But you should never do for English, as many people understand.

CIA comment
Dear readers, why don't you look at your face in the mirror sometimes when you are not wearing make-up? You know better than anyone that you are neither handsome or beautiful. Human beings live with thickly made up masks over their ugly faces.
