The winner of U-CAN’s 2015 New Expressions and Buzzwords Competition has been announced. This award is presented annually to the individuals or groups responsible for coining new phrases that have somehow struck a chord with the nation. Two buzzwords were selected for the grand prize: “bakugai” (shopping spree) mainly used when referring to the shopping habits of Chinese tourists; and the baseball term “triple three.”
